Contrary to rumours making the rounds about the sacking of Nigeria Professional Football League Club Shooting Stars head coach Olumide Edith Agoye, the general manager of the club has dispelled the rumors claiming the coach remain with the club, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
It was a topsy turvy season for the Oluyole Warriors who returned to the elite league last season after spending a couple of years in the lower division.
After a slow start to the 2021/22 NPFL season, 3SC picked up at a point getting results both home and away but that didn’t continue for too long as they returned to the form they started with and narrowly escaped relegation on the final day to maintain the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) status with just on goal difference as Kano Pillars, Katsina United, MFM FC and Heartland FC went down to the Nigeria second-tier league.
Agoye who guided 3SC from the NNL to the NPFL in 2020/21 season has been under pressure following not-too-good performance from his lads.
There have been rumours that former Remo Stars coach, Gbenga Ogunbote will take over from Agoye as Shooting Stars coach.
Speaking with BSN Sports on the matter, former Super Eagles winger, Dimeji Lawal said “there is nothing like that.
“As it is, Agoye remains Shooting Stars coach unless he resigns, the management of 3SC and Oyo State government have not reached such conclusion with anybody.”
He added, “in the next few days we will conclude all the necessary things ahead of the new season. Then, we shall come out and talk to Nigerians on the same issue. But one thing I can guarantee all the supporters and fans of the team is that, we will come out with flying colours in the 2022/23 NPFL season.”
