Draws for the 2022-23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season to be held in Abuja today will be beamed live on Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Nigeria Television Authority (NTA)
This much was said yesterday by the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee( IMC) Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye even as he confirmed that winner of the next league season will cart home 100 million naira as prize money.
The former Director General of the Nigeria Sports Commission explained that the winner will get N100 million as a cash reward and that there will be other incentives to all clubs.
Elegbeleye said that the draw would be conducted by football celebrities in a transparent and tranquil environment, adding that teams from the same states won’t be drawn to the same group for fairness and sportsmanship.
“It is going to be a live draw on television,” Elegbeleye said on Sports Salsa, a programme on Kennis Radio.“We are finalizing our arrangements with AIT and NTA for live telecast. We can be very sure that we will have a very transparent live draw on Wednesday
He added: “It will take place in Abuja at Sandralina Hotel in Jabi by 2pm. We are inviting some football celebrities to come there and do the draw for us.
“We don’t want to promise what we cannot do, the winner of the 2022/2023 season will get N100 million as a cash prize.
We are going to have like three pots. We don’t want it to be North vs South arrangement. All the teams will play in whatever group they found themselves.
“We will try to ensure that clubs from the same state won’t be in the same group.”
