After triumphing 8-7 on penalties in the Federation Cup a couple of weeks ago, Mailantarki Care FC defeated Kogi United again in the Nigeria National League, NNL on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Light Boys defeated the Confluence Boys by three goals to one at the Area 3 Sport Complex, Abuja to move out of the relegation zone, compounding the woes of Kogi United who stay bottom.
Garba Mohammed got the first opportunity of the game for Kogi United in the 7th minute, but the chance was wasted.
The host came close to scoring six minutes later, but goalkeeper Shola Sheshere pushed the ball away from danger.
In the 17th minute, the deadlock was finally broken for the host through Miko Dalha who heads the ball into the net.
Five minutes later, Garba Mohammed levelled score for Kogi United from the penalty Spot after a Mailantarki Care Fc player handled the ball in his box.
Mohammed had another opportunity to score the visitors second, but his attempt went wide.
In the 41st minute, the host restored the lead this time through Philip George to make it 2-1 and end the first half that way.
After 25 minutes into the second where the two teams tried to size each, it was the Abuja side that scored again.
Milko Dalha scored the third in the 75th minute of the game as what Kogi United Fc defenders failed to deal with became an advantage for the host.
Haruna Isah attempted a shot but it went wide in the 82nd as the visitors pushed to get back into the game, but that is the much they could get as the tie ended 3-1.
