NNL Maintain Stance On Ban of Six J’Atete FC Players

Nigeria national league(NNL) has reconfirmed the one year ban handed six(6) players of J’Atete football club for flagrant assault on match officials which led to referee Ms Patience Nweke beaten to coma.

The NNL secretariat meted a one year ban to the players for the assault which is a violation of the NNL rule book

  5. Edafe Stephens
  6. Shemaye Amatesiro

The above listed players are not to feature in league game until they complete their one year ban.

The culprits took the law in their own hands when they descended heavily on the referees in the match day 19 fixture against Ekiti United played at the Otu-Jeremy stadium,Warri in Delta state.

NNL has also reiterated that the fine of N1million (One million naira) imposed on J’A tete for the treatment of the assaulted Referee must be paid by J’Atete FC in line with the provision of the rule book.

Any breach by the players or their club will lead to heavier sanctions as the NNL will relegate J’Atete from the league.
