Madiba FC have defeated follow Lagos counterpart, Ikorodu City in their match day 4 encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Friday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Oshodi boys brushed off challenge from the Ikorodu boys to win by three goals to one to remain top of the Southern Conference group B2 standings with 8 points.
Goalkeeper Tijani Mohammed, winger Olamilekan and Babatunde Shaibu were the goal scorers in the Derby win for Madiba FC.
A-35th minute penalty opened up the game that had been goalless despite the slight dominance of Madiba FC.
Captain Rabiu Nurudeen had been brought down in the penalty box, goalkeeper Mohammed stepped up to put the ball behind the net.
With the first ending 1-0, Ikorodu, the second half started with Ikorodu City searching for the equalizer.
In the 54th minute, Tosin Oyedekun restored parity after he scored via free kick.
It was a quick response as Olamilekan returned the lead back to Madiba FC to leave score at 2-1.
The Oshodi based club scored the third at a point when Ikorodu City sought to equal score.
Solomon Aliu was upended by Ikorodu City Fc defender in the box 18 as the centre referee gave another penalty in the 88 minute.
Babatunde Shaibu converted for Madiba’s third roofing the ball from the spot kick to make it 3-1 which was the score line at the end of 90 minutes.
