Nigeria’s Super Eagles rise to 43rd in the latest FIFA Rankings

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed one place to 43rd in the latest FIFA Rankings, published on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

This modest improvement comes after Nigeria concluded 2024 in 44th position, their lowest ranking in six years.

The team had begun 2024 in 28th place but suffered a significant decline over the year.

In 2025, the Super Eagles have played two World Cup qualification matches, securing a 2-0 victory over Rwanda and drawing 1-1 with Zimbabwe.

As a result, they have moved up to fourth in their group for the 2026 World Cup qualification. However, their chances of qualifying for the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico remain uncertain.

The top 10 teams in the FIFA Rankings remain unchanged since December, with Argentina retaining its position as the world’s top team.

Spain has surpassed France to take second place, while Morocco remains the highest-ranked African team, sitting 12th globally.

Nigeria’s regional rivals, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Ivory Coast, complete Africa’s top five, with the Super Eagles dropping from fifth to sixth since December.
