Information reaching Nigeriasoccernet.com revealed by the Pro League showed that Nigeria and Genk forward Paul Onuachu was among those that broke the Pro League record for charity jersey sales,
The attacker’s shirt was among the wave of jersey sales in the 14th iteration of the campaign, which smashed records with €155,000 raised, 3,000 more than the previous year.
The league management wrote, “155.000 euros for @YounitedBelgium, that’s the record-breaking result of our yearly solidarity campaign.”
To generate money for Christmas contributions, Onuachu’s jersey No.18 was sold for €2,850, which saw him rank third via the campaign.
Standing at No.1 for the most shirts sold and raising the sum of €3,700 is a three-time winner of the Belgian First Division, Simon Mignolet.
Occupying the second position is Mike Trésor, whose jersey sales raked in a total of €2,900.
For the highest shirt sales per club, Club Brugge sit top with the sum of €14,439 while Royal Antwerp and Genk are second and third, with shirt sales of €14,357 and €14,334 respectively.
Despite a slow start to the 2022/23 season, Onuachu has been outstanding in the Belgian league and has attracted interest from other European clubs.
