Nigeria Nationwide League to start 26th April

Nigeria Nationwide League 2022/2023 season will kick start on Wednesday the 26th of April according to organisers of the league, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The date was fixed by the Congress of the Nationwide League One (NLO) at the NLO’s Annual General Meeting/Congress held virtually on Tuesday.

The meeting which had in attendance the representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), NLO, State FA’s and clubs also adopted the Stadium League Format for the new season.

The format which will be in home and away form was adopted by the Congress due to “security, economic and political challenge in the country.”

All the teams will be grouped in zones and will play matches in round robing, after that, go on a break for a week or two.

Chief Operating Officer(COO) Olusola Ogunowo explained how the format will be implemented.

“All the team will resume for the concluding part of the season.

“For the teams that get relegated to Division 2, which is now known as the Youth League, they will only retain 10 players from their teams. The reason is, that the Youth League has an age cap of 16-19.”

Ogunowo further informed the Congress that the league has gotten a major sponsor and matches will be shown the NLO TV app.
