General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation , Dr. Mohammed Sanusi has told our team that the agenda for the FA’s, Annual General Assembly scheduled for 18 December, in Lagos , will have ” no major concern” other than its usual appraisal of activities for the year ending calendar.
While the football stakeholders may convey to take stock of the year, it’s expected that the sombre experience of the fans over Nigeria’s failure to qualify for any major , Men’s continental tournament next Year, should categorize the mood of the administrators.
Perhaps the country’s triumph in Cameroon last week, in the Africa Women Cup of Nations may compensate for how poor the national teams have done in 2016; though the recent performance of the Super Eagles in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, will also lift the morale of the AGM.
Though Sanusi would not divulge the finer details of the agenda for the 18 December AGM, the NFF will surely need to take proactive steps in conflict resolutions , having spent the most part of a quarter, this year, fighting court litigation with aggrieved members and Coaches.
In addition, the treacherous matter of unpaid salaries, bonuses and allowances coupled with the waning financial backing from government and corporate bodies are burning concerns. Then perhaps, detailed disclosure on the new kit sponsorship deal could also grace the AGM’s delibrations.
However, the General Secretary did state that the FA was looking forward to hosting and winning the Beach Soccer Cup of Nations as a year ending pacifier.
