NEWS FLASH: Hostile Young Africans fans attack Rivers United and stole fortunes

Rivers United have been greeted with tumultuous reception from fans in Tanzania ahead of the second-leg tie against Young Africans.

Rivers United received a hostile reception from Young Africans’ fans during their training session at the Benjamin Nkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Saturday night.

According to reports from the City of Dar es Salaam, the Nigerian champions bus was burgled and valuables worth thousands of dollars stolen.

It is learnt that while completing their final training session the players noticed that their bus had been broken into and sprayed with toxic chemicals and a sum of $5,250 stolen.

Rivers United have, however, petitioned CAF as they await further action from the football ruling body.

The Stanley Eguma’s side lost the first leg 2-0 and must score three goals without conceding to scale through to the semi-final.
