Newcastle United are set to fast track under-the-radar signing Gideon Adu-Peprah to the first team, according to reports.
The 17-year-old left-back signed for the Magpies on a free transfer from Manchester City and has played two games in the under-21 side since his arrival.
Newcastle have limited options at left-back with Massadio Haidara and Paul Dummett both out injured, which has seen Kevin Mbabu slot into Steve McClaren’s starting line-up.
Adu-Peprah signed a two-year contract with Newcastle and has already been promoted from the under-18 squad to Peter Beardsley’s under-21 side.
The Ghana-born defender suffered an injury setback of his own when he picked up a knock in a 1-1 draw against Swansea under-21’s, but the injury is not thought to be serious.
