“?Manchester City have been formally charged by the Football Association in relation to English football’s governing body’s regulations on anti-doping.
A statement from the FA early on Wednesday evening has made public that is has been alleged the club have failed to keep information on ‘Whereabouts’ accurate and up to date.

Anti-doping policy states that the FA must be informed of an individual’s ‘Whereabouts’ if that player is going to be absent from scheduled team training, which includes leaving a session early, arriving late, or participating in a session at a different venue separate from the majority of the squad.
The FA must be made aware because players still have to be available for drugs testing. Players can be tested at any time during training or surrounding a match, or during other pre-determined hour-long windows set out in their ‘Whereabouts’ information.
There is no suggestion that any City players have been guilty of doping offences, but it appears the club may have been lax in terms of keeping on top of its ‘Whereabouts’ records.
Incorrect or incomplete ‘Whereabouts’ information can lead to players missing drugs tests if they are not in the expected place at the right time and the FA is unaware, which will eventually lead to sanctions if it happens on multiple occasions in a single 12 month period.
City have been given until 19th January to respond to the charge.
