“?Liverpool’s Emre Can could be set for a switch to Serie A with Juventus, if reports in Italy are anything to go by.

“?Calciomercato has claimed that the Reds midfielder is on a shortlist of potential targets for the Italian giants and, with Can’s contract at Anfield due to expire in 18 months’ time, the reigning Scudetto champions are rumoured to be keeping serious tabs on his availability.

Can has been an important part of the first-team setup under Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, and has racked up 19 appearances in all competitions throughout the 2016/17 campaign so far.

Being a significant part of the German’s squad on Merseyside, however, has not stopped Italian media outlets from linking him with a move to Turin, and that conjecture is pointing towards a lack of discussions over extending Can’s stay at Liverpool as a key component in any potential move by Juventus for his services.

Can signed a four-year deal with Liverpool when he traded football in the Bundesliga with German side Bayer Leverkusen, and the club will likely look to hand him a new contract – with improved terms – at some point in the near future.

In the event that negotiations stall or break down, though, Juventus could be in line to swoop, with Liverpool unwilling to allow Can to leave on a free transfer in June 2018 when they could theoretically recoup some of the transfer fee they paid for him two-and-a-half seasons ago.

If Juve wants Emre Can, I would sell in an instant. Easy. The player in the current squad I have most problems with #lfc

Juventus have already acquired “?Tomas Rincon’s signature from fellow Serie A side Genoa in January, and have allegedly opened talks with Argentinian outfit Boca Juniors over the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur. Both moves, though, are independent of any supposed enquiry for Can, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool and Klopp would be willing to entertain selling the 22-year-old.

As well as monitoring Can’s situation, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is also believed to be tracking PSG’s Marco Verratti, Lyon hot prospect Corentin Tolisso and one-time Liverpool target and Borussia Monchengladbach star Mahmoud Dahoud.

Can has made over 100 appearances for Liverpool since his move from Germany, and has registered six goals and six assists during his time with the club.
