Jurgen Klopp has insisted he is happy to stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career – but intends to quit football by the age of 60.
However, the former Borussia Dortmund manager, 49, is not ruling out a return to management in Germany, and in an interview with Redaktions Netwerk, Klopp said:
“If at the end of my career I only got to coach Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool, then it will certainly have been three fantastic clubs.
“It’s very, very unlikely that I will still be sitting on the bench when I am 60. I certainly will (return to Germany) to live but I don’t know if I will be back there as a coach yet. The day will come when I say, “?thanks, it was a pleasure.’”
Klopp celebrates a year in charge at Anfield next weekend and is set on leaving the kind of legacy he built in Dortmund.
In his seven years there he won successive Bundesliga titles and the domestic cup as well as taking them to the Champions League final at Wembley where they narrowly lost out to Bayern Munich.
He joined Liverpool in autumn last term and in less than a year has turned Liverpool into potential title challengers after winning five of their opening seven games thus far in the Premier League, including Saturday’s win in south Wales against Swansea City.
