Santos Laguna’s leading scorer Harold Preciado has been provisionally suspended for alleged doping by Mexico’s Anti-Doping Committee.

The Liga MX club announced in a statement that the committee has opened a case against the Colombia striker over a test carried out in January 2024.

Preciado, 29, has scored four goals in six league appearances for Santos in the Liga MX Clausura.

The striker was the top scorer in the Liga MX Apertura 2023 with 11 goals but has now been handed a “mandatory provisional suspension, which prevents him from participating in any sporting activity.”

The club said that the former Deportivo Cali star “has a period of five days to request a new analysis of the test, in accordance with the procedures detailed by the specialized anti-doping organisations.”

Preciado last played in Saturday’s 1-0 league win at Querétaro, scoring the only goal of the game.
