“?Premier League clubs appear to have taken a real fancy to Bundesliga players over the last year or so, with Manchester City’s capture of Leroy Sane now taking the total spend to bring Germany’s stars to England to over £300m since last summer.

More than £150m was spent by Premier League sides on Bundesliga players during last summer’s transfer window alone.

That figure included some shrewd buys, such as Shinji Okazaki from Mainz for £7.5m, as well as some big deals that look to have been a success 12 months down the line. Think Roberto Firmino joining Liverpool from Hoffenheim for nearly £30m, and Kevin De Bruyne arriving at Manchester City for a huge club record well in excess of £50m.

The jury is still out on Son Heung-min after Spurs paid £22m to Bayer Leverkusen, while Baba Rahman has already left Chelsea on loan after his high profile move from Augsburg.

Summer 2015 – £154.75m

Jan Kirchhoff and Timm Klose made the switch from Germany to Sunderland and Norwich respectively for a combined fee of £9.5m in January. And spending so far this summer, up to and including Sane’s arrival in England, has been big once more.

January 2016″? – £9.5m

Arsenal (Granit Xhaka), Manchester United (Henrikh Mkhitaryan) and City (Sane and Ilkay Gundogan) have put nearly £120m into the pockets of German clubs between just themselves since the end of last season, taking the current summer 2016 spend on Bundesliga players to just over £141m.

Bear in mind, there’s another month of potential business still remaining.

Liverpool have also contributed to that with the signings of Loris Karius and Ragnar Klavan, while Southampton spent the best part of £13m to buy Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Bayern Munich.

Summer 2016 (So Far) – £141.4m
