Leicester Could Lose Out on Striker to Barcelona Despite Offering More Money

“?Leicester City may be Premier League champions and among Europe’s elite in that sense. But in a race with Barcelona to the signature of highly rated Paraguayan striker Antonio Sanabria, the Foxes look as though they could miss out despite offering more money.

According to Sport in Spain, Leicester have made a more “significant financial offer” than any other suitor, including the likes of Valencia, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.

However, the 20-year-old is ready to wait and see whether Barcelona choose to make an approach as they prepare to let Sandro Ramirez leave Camp Nou.

The anticipated arrival of Denis Suarez from Villarreal and the hope that Aleix Vidal will fill Dani Alves’ shoes, appear to have solved the immediate need for midfield and defensive reinforcements at Barça, leaving a forward top of the list of transfer priorities.

Like Suarez, Sanabria is also a former Barcelona player. After four years in La Masia and a handful of appearance for Barcelona B, he moved to Sassuolo in Italy and then on to Roma.

He subsequently spent last season back on loan in La Liga with Sporting Gijon, for whom he scored 11 goals in 29 appearances. That promising return is what helped bring the player to the attention of Leicester and others, but their efforts may be in vain.

As far as price is concerned, the report from Sport notes that Sanabria is currently valued at around €9m. However, with the Copa America Centenario a big stage that could see him shine, Roma are thought to be keen to wait until after the tournament when they may be able to charge as much as €13m.
