Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers provided an update on the fitness of Nigeria International defender, Wilfred Ndidi, ahead of his side’s Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening.

The Super Eagles star was forced to leave the international training camp in Constantine, Algeria after suffering a relapse of an injury he sustained during the Premier League meeting between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City in their last game before the break.

Ndidi has been hampered by injuries in 2022, missing the tail end of last season due to a serious injury he picked up against Rennes, which required surgery.

The 25-year-old was diagnosed with a minor hamstring-related issue by the Super Eagles medical team before he flew back to England for further treatment.

Rodgers suggested that Ndidi would have fully recovered from the minor injury by Monday, which puts him in contention to be included in the matchday squad to face Nottingham Forest.

In quotes relayed by Leicester City’s official webpage, Rodgers said : “We had Wilfred Ndidi come back early.  He’s looking really positive and trained this morning so hopefully he will be fine.”

Leicester City need their key players available as they find themselves in a relegation battle after seven matches, having lost six consecutive matches in the Premier League.

With the exception of the 2-1 loss at Chelsea, Ndidi has started all the matches played by the Foxes in the top flight so far this season.
