“?Kevin De Bruyne says new Manchester City signing Leroy Sane can help the club regain the Premier League title this season, according to a report in “?Sport Bild, after the play-maker spoke during a Nike event in Manchester on Tuesday.

Sane, 20, completed a £42.5m move to the Citizens from Bundesliga side Schalke on August 2 after weeks of speculation.

And De Bruyne, who completed his own £55m from German top flight club Werder Bremen last summer, believes the winger can light up England’s top division during the 2016/17 campaign.

He said: “Leroy Sane is a class player. I want him to shine with my assists”.

De Bruyne enjoyed a stellar first season at the Etihad Stadium last term, with the 25-year-old racking up 16 goals in all competitions as he helped City finish fourth in the league.

Kevin De Bruyne: “My aim is the title. To reach this it’s important we have new players like Sane or Gundogan.”

De Bruyne also picked up his first piece of silverware in the form of the Capital One Cup under former boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean was replaced by Pep Guardiola in the close season, and the Spaniard has set about reinvigorating his first-team squad ahead of a push to reclaim the Premier League title.

Having returned late to pre-season training after this summer’s Euro 2016 championship, De Bruyne has now set his sights on winning England’s biggest prize.

However, the midfielder also believes the competition from the Premier League’s other top sides will ensure the title goes right down to the wire.

He added: “My aim is the title. To reach this it’s important we have new players like Sane or (Ilkay) Gundogan.

“Manchester United is strong again with Pogba and Ibrahimovic.

“Players like these help the league. But I think Chelsea and Arsenal will be strong, too.”
