Kennedy Boboye, on Friday, was named as Abia Warriors head coach in a ceremony at the club’s office in Umuahia.
The former Sunshine Stars trainer was not among the shortlist of coaches by Abia Warriors but was contacted after the pair of Abdu Maikaba and Paul Aigbogun of Wikki Tourists and Warri Wolves in the running backed down.
“Mr Kennedy Boboye is our coach for the coming season. It is a choice the club made unanimously after the interview process. He is young and we believe he can take us to the height we have always targeted as a club,” Abia Warriors chairman Emeka Inyama said to supersport.com.
Supersport.com understands that Boboye has been given a one-year contract and his primary target will be to guide the Umuahia club to a continental place next season.
Abia Warriors will compete in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and the Federation Cup in the 2015/16 season.
