“?Juventus are allegedly ready to make Arsenal a tempting offer in an effort to prise Alexis Sanchez away from the Emirates Stadium after identifying the Chilean star as a player who will add quality to an already top level attacking unit.
According to CalcioMercatoWeb in Italy, Juventus would offer an unspecified cash sum as well as Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic, a player that has been linked with the Gunners in recent months.
Sanchez has played in Italy before, beginning the European leg of his career with Udinese before later moving on to Barcelona. And Juventus have been serious about improving their squad and taking it to the next level with an eye on recapturing the Champions League.
It remains to be seen whether there is any truth to the outlandish claims, while no timeframe is offered by the Italian report – Arsenal would surely baulk at the prospect of allowing such an important player to leave in January.
Sanchez’s future as an Arsenal player has recently started to move into an area of doubt. Talks over a new contract with a significant pay rise are ongoing and there have been rumours that he is keen on having a release clause inserted into any new deal.
The £35m Gunners favourite has begun the new season as Arsene Wenger’s first choice striker after the club failed to land a marquee goalscorer over the summer.
He’s starting ahead of Olivier Giroud, who Wenger says is taking a little longer than most to recover from playing at Euro 2016 and regain full fitness after missing all of pre-season.
“[Giroud] was a bit behind at the start,” Wenger told Arsenal.com on Friday. “Fitness-wise he has been behind Koscielny and Ozil. At the start it took him some time to get back. Since the last week, he’s slowly getting back to full fitness now.”
