Juventus director, Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, has rubbished talk of Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri making a move away from the club at the end of the season as Arsenal rumours continue to circulate.
The comments came after the club slumped to a surprise 2-1 loss away to Fiorentina, courtesy of goals from Nikola Kalinic and Milan Badelj, cutting the distance between themselves and second-placed Roma to just one point.
“It is his third year with us and I think it’s more than possible for a coach to stay with a club for three or four years,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium – as reported by “?Four Four Two.
“I don’t understand this constant desire to change. There are other coaches whose contracts are running down and nobody talks about them like this.”
The Italian Hall of Fame inductee clarified the club’s official stance on the manager, adding: “Allegri is a winning tactician, we see no reason to lose him.”
To add more fuel to the flames, Allegri has reportedly been taking English lessons, making it seem even more likely that a Premier League move is on the cards for the Italian.
Having served over 20 years at the helm of Arsenal football club, Arsene Wenger’s future looks increasingly unlikely as he reaches closer to the end of his contract with no talk of signing a new deal for the time being.
Allegri, as per Sky Bet odds, is the second-favourite to take over from the Frenchman if he does leave the London club.
The 67-year-old has cemented himself in Arsenal history after creating ‘The Invincibles’ but has come under increasing pressure over the club’s lack of Champions League progress and consistent fourth-placed finishes in recent years – which is exactly where the club are right now.
Allegri has seven major honours to his name so far, which would have been eight if Juve were able to defeat Barcelona in the 2015 Champions League Final, and would be a welcome replacement amongst fans of the Gunners if Wenger leaves.
The odds-on favourite to be the next permanent Arsenal boss, however, is Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe…
