“?Liverpool fan-favourite and goalkeeper Pepe Reina may be on his way back to Anfield, after Jurgen Klopp has been exploring the idea of re-signing the Spaniard in the summer.

“?TalkSPORT have reported that despite completing the signing of Loris Karius from Maiz last week for £4.7m, Klopp is keen to add the former Bayern Munich player to his goalkeeping department, in a playing and coaching position.

Following a season on loan at Serie A side Napoli, Reina left for the German champions in 2014 under the immovable object that is Manuel Neur, before returning for Italy and claiming his place as Napoli’s number one keeper, narrowly missing out on the title to Italian rivals Juventus.

The 33-year-old is reportedly considering a return to the Merseyside club, and would be accepting of a role to teach new-boy Karius and former Sunderland stopper Mignolet the tricks of the trade that saw him adored by the Anfield faithful in his nine-year-spell with the Reds, from 2005 until 2014, first brought to the club by now Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez.

The ex-Real Madrid coach hailed him as the ‘best keeper in the World’ when he put pen to paper, immediately breaking the club record of six consecutive clean sheets by Christmas, going on to make 285 appearances for Liverpool. Despite his form dipping season by season, the Spanish international has made a positive impression in Serie A, and would need to be greatly compensated to part ways with the experienced shot stopper.
