“?Joshua Kimmich believes that staying at Bayern Munich is a more attractive idea than any transfer move abroad.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season last campaign under Pep Guardiola, and is reportedly delighted with his decision to join Bayern. He moved to the German giants from RB Leipzig at the beginning of last season, and made 36 appearances for the club across all competitions.
Kimmich has reportedly drawn interest from Premier League clubs over the past year given his Bundesliga performaces and also that he played for Germany at the Euros in the summer during their semi-final run.
But the “?German told Munchner Merkur that he is far more interested in staying with Bayern rather than exploring the possibility of a move abroad.
“Making a major contribution to Bayern is more important to me than a transfer abroad,” Kimmich explained.
“Staying at Bayern is more tempting and more attractive to me.”
The young midfielder was also thrilled to hear about the comparisons between himself and Bayern legend Phillip Lahm, although he maintained that the gulf in class at the moment is large.
“That’s a big compliment. Philipp has been playing at the highest level for more than 10 years. I myself half only five caps,” he continued.
“Philipp is world class, I still have a long road ahead of me.”
Pep Guardiola has left the German club in order to become the new manager at Manchester City, and Kimmich, alongside the rest of his teammates, will have to impress new boss Carlo Ancelotti in order to justify getting minutes on the pitch.
