The win turned out to be Boro’s fifth consecutive home win and the Super Eagles eligible, Akpom, getting his 16th league goal of the season.

Middlesbrough’s win piled on the misery for Blackpool. The Seasiders remain in the relegation zone and new boss Mick McCarthy could not prevent their winless Championship run extending to 11 matches in his first league game in charge.
