Is it Terem Moffi’s time to be a starter in the Super Eagles?

Terem Moffi has got eyes on him recently after starting the season on a high. He has been arguably the best Super Eagles striker in Europe.

With six goals in eight matches, making him the Super Eagles striker with more goals in top five leagues in Europe. Moffi has shown he can be trusted to score goals when needed.

His involvement in goals in the Ligue 1 is only bettered by PSG duo of Neymar and Mbappe who have scored eight and seven goals respectively.

In the Super Eagles Nation’s Cup qualifiers match where Sao Tome and Principe was mauled, he scored a brace, a testament to his scoring ability.

A stake in the starting eleven with Osimhen’s absence

It is expected that the 23-year-old will be the first man to come to Jose Peseiro’s mind as replacement for striker Victor Osimhen when Nigeria play Algeria.

He has been involved in more games and has scored more goals than the invited strikers who are present in the camp- Cyriel Dessers, Taiwo Awoniyi and Ademola Lookman.

No disrespect to these players, but more than ever, perhaps it’s time Moffi became an integral part of the team as his personality on the ball and eye for goal earn him that place.

Starting not just against Algeria, but becoming more involved in the main team should be considered by the coaching crew of the nation team.
