IMC meet with NTA for a possible terrestrial TV rights for NPFL

The Interim Management Company IMC, have met with the Nigeria Television Authority NTA for a possible television right to broadcast the Nigeria Professional Football League this upcoming season.

The IMC chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye and other members of his team, met with the Director General of the NTA, Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos at the NTA office, Abuja on Tuesday.

The body set up by the Sports Ministry and inaugurated by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation some weeks ago is at the verge of getting a television partnership deal ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

Reports say discussions were centered on how NTA can partner with the league body in broadcasting live matches of the NPFL to Nigerians.

However, no decision was reached at the meeting as both parties agreed to meet again and finalize discussions.

The IMC is looking at various possibilities and there are indications that they have also opened discussions with Multichoice to get Super Sports broadcast the league to the international audience.

The 2023 Nigeria Professional Football League season which has been largely reported to take the abridged form is yet to have a date of kickoff.

However, the IMC is working closely with the clubs to ensure that players registration on the TMS is done in good time so that a start date will be fixed before the end of November.
