Officials of FC Taraba said they would be looking forward to “a very successful 2017 Nigeria National League Football League (NNL) season, following the state governor, Arch Dickson Ishiaku’s declaration that he would pay special attention to sports development in the state, with the emphasis on the club.
Ishiaku made this declaration at the occasion of the National Medical Association Games which took place in Jalingo last week, when he stated that he remained aware of the fact that sport has not fared well in the state and promised to ensure that the state take her rightful place in sport in Nigeria.
The chairman of the club, Hon. Ishaya Gani, applauded the governor for his new stand for sports development in the state, while maintaining that, with such commitment, there would be nothing stopping FC Taraba from gaining promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), arguing that the club had what it takes to be promoted, if it would get the kind of boost the governor promised.
“We are very happy to hear the governor make this declaration. FC Taraba really needs such support and, with that we can do more and, even, qualify for the NPFL, as a token of our appreciation.
“If it is talent, we sure do have them and we have a good technical crew that can handle the team well and lead us back to the NPFL,” he said.
