Super Eagles are set to play their last “make or break ” match against struggling Argentina on Tuesday evening where the two need a point from the encounter.
Rohr’s men are one of the two Africa’s hope to make it to the round of 16 alongside Senegal, with Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia all been eliminated. It is a match that has caught lost of international attention considering the non performance of Messi and his team going to this game with all to play for but history has show since USA 1994 ,Nigeria has won one, drew two and lost two of their last group games at the World Cup.
Surprisingly the Super Eagles lost all two games against South American countries ( 1998- 1:3 Paraguay) ( 2014- 2:3 Argentina) ,this has in some way going to inspire the Super Eagles to break that jinx whiles the Argentines also has a reputation to save.
Nigeria’s final group games at the world cup since 1994
1994- Greece 0 Nigeria 2
1998- Nigeria 1 Paraquay 3
2002- Nigeria 0 England 0
2010- Nigeria 2 South Korea 2
2014-Nigeria 2 Argentina 3
W1, D2 and L2.
Whether Super Eagles wins or lose, it a game that will be judged by the performance of key players such as inform Ahmed musa, who became the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup match, after scoring twice against Argentina in the 2014 and Lionel Messi who is yet to score at the tournament
Nigeria can dump out Argentina out of the World Cup with a victory or draw over the La Albiceleste at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.
