Head Coach Has Stated Enyeama Is Not Coming Out Of Retirement Now

Enyeama not coming out of retirement now –Yusuf

Former Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, will not come out of international retirement just yet.

Head Coach, Salisu Yusuf, said yesterday that Gernot Rohr, who is the team’s new Technical Adviser, is interested in wooing  Enyeama to come out of retirement. Yusuf ruled out the possibility of the Lille FC of France stopper returning to international action now.

“I spoke with Vincent Enyeama, but I think he is not ready to come but we have a good relationship. He talked as a mature man and he respects me, but when time comes for him to come, he will,” the coach assured.

On Nigeria’s quest to qualify to the Russia 2018 World Cup finals, Yusuf admitted that the journey to the Super Eagles qualification to the World Cup will be rough and difficult.

He, however, expressed optimism that Nigeria will scale through and pick a ticket to the Mundial. Yusuf bared his mind while speaking with journalists on the team’s preparation ahead of the World Cup qualifying first match against Zambia in Ndola next month.

He said with the right condition and commitment the Super Eagles would be in Russia.

“Though I know that it’s going to be difficult, but I can tell you Nigeria will be in Russian come 2018. We will scale through because if we have self-belief we can beat any team, anywhere.

“And I think the team we have right now, the players are doing well in Europe. So, why can’t we qualify for the World Cup? I am optimistic,” the coach said.Speaking on the insinuation that he has been demoted from being Super Eagles coach by the new Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, the former Enyimba gaffer said, “I am not relegated, I am still on my position as the country’s team head coach. So, I don’t know anything about demotion or relegation.”

Asked why he chooses not to complain like other coaches do about how NFF owes them salaries, Yusuf replied: “Most of the clubs that owed me, have you ever seen me crucifying them, so owing coaches is Nigeria situation and we are here, we need to adapt.”
