Enyimba FC shot stopper Fatau Dauda has rubbished reports that he punched a ball boy during their clash with Katsina United in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.
The game which ended 2-1 in favour of Katsina United ended in a bizarre manner following attacks on Enyimba FC players by the home fans resulting in the players sustaining various degree of injuries.
The team bus of Enyimba FC suffered stone throws from the angry fans breaking all the windows and windscreens of the bus.
In a quick attempt to neutralize the barbaric act during the game, Katsina United tweeted images of an alleged unconscious boy insisting he was punched by the Black Stars goalie during the game.
But the experienced goalie says they are lies perpetrated by the home side to tarnish his image because he is not a Nigerian.
“It’s never true. How can I do that? Even the referee sent the ball boy away after he refused to give me balls to start a game. I swear by Allah that they are forging the story,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com
In an astonished manner, Fatau argued he’s being fingered by the home side because he is a foreigner.
“Why must they put this lie on me or is it because I am a foreigner?
The unhappy goalie went on further to explain that the said ball boy was sent out from the field because of his consistent delays.
“The said ball boy was finally sent out by the referee. So if I had punched the boy, I should have been shown a card. I don’t know where these lies are coming from.”
