“?Despite the fact that Real Madrid’s transfer ban will come to an end this summer, Zinedine Zidane will not move to sign Dortmund’s star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
That is the situation posited by German newspaper “?Bild, who claim that the striker currently on international duty as host nation Gabon’s captain at the Africa Cup of Nations 2017, is not on Zidane’s wishlist.
The Bundesliga top scorer has become one of Europe’s most feared (and coveted) players in recent months and had previously been linked with the European champions – not least because of his own public desire to one day play at the Bernabeu.
However, Bild claims that Aubameyang doesn’t “fit the profile” Zidane is looking for, and the French coach is happy to persevere with his current options of Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata in the central striking role, rather than spending big.
Earlier in the year the 27-year-old was the subject of a rumour that a Chinese club was plotting a world record-breaking €150m bid for his services, while former Germany star Lothar Matthaus claimed the Dortmund striker was worth considerably more than current world-record transfer holder Paul Pogba.
