GACup: Beyond Limits FA ease pass Portland Timbers for first win

Remo Stars Beyond Limits Football Academy have secured their first win of the Generation Adidas Cup after beating Timbers FC in the final group stage game on Monday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Beyond Limits defeated Portland Timbers by two goals to nil in Florida after a brace from Muyideen Olude.

The team’s Coach had made two changes to the side which started the first two matches with Promise Meliga and Jimoh Toheeb dropping to the bench for Peter Adejimi and Sunday Ogbonnaya.

The little tweek did work has the Nigeria side were the better side as they created chances that could have seen Olude get on the score sheet earlier.

First it was Kparobo Arierhi who had two chances missed in the space of three minutes before Olude’s shot was deflected for corner in the 15th minute.

Five minutes later, Timbers almost got a goal, but an attempt from them was saved by Favour Aputaziem.

Olude’s attempt will later hit the woodwork in the 35th minute as BLFA kept pushing for the goal.

The goal finally came as goal thirsty, Muyideen Olude finally got what he sought with a beautiful curler two minutes to the end of the half.

The Remo Stars academy didn’t take their foots of the pedal, continuing with the same momentum as the first as the second goal came eight minutes into the second half.

Olude scored again after meeting a Kparobo Arierhi’s cross and calmly slotting beyond the goalkeeper to make the score line 2-0.

And this is how it ended as Beyond Limits FA held on to the lead for their first open play win in their final group stage match.

The win takes them top of the log with 6 points, a point ahead of Strikers FC pending their match with Louis FC.
