Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi the former first Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation. Yesterday officially announced his resignation as Chairman of the Lagos state football Federation
He was appointed Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in 2014 and re-elected in 2018.He was Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association.In 2012, he served on the adhoc committee for restructuring the Nigeria National League.
The football administrator said he would have quit the job when his tenure formally ended in January this year but delayed the decision because it coincided with the state FA Cup, adding that it would have been irresponsible to leave in the middle of a competition.
Akinwunmi said after been in the saddle for 12 years it was time to give others opportunity to manage the association, adding that he would still be around to lend his support whenever it is needed.
He was chairman of South West Football Forum and former head of the NFF Youth Committee,
He contested to become the federation’s president at its elections last year but lost his bid.
He wished the new Lagos state FA executives a successful tenure.
