Former Fifa referee, Dr. Alex Sule Mana, who now lectures at the National Institute for Sports , believes the NFF by its inaction on diplomatic and organisational levels have cost the Nigeria Referee Association proper recognition on the international stage.
The former Fifa badged Referee posits that Nigeria will need to find its way to the top echelon of Referees’ Committees in international bodies like CAF and FIFA or build alliances that will enable favorable consideration for events.
Dr. Mana holds that the NRA has a solid structure across the country but have not received the right support from the NFF to help its members – who are some of the best – actualize the goal of officiating at major footballing events.
No Nigerian Referee will be at the Rio 2016 Football Tournament in August despite several African referees were selected in the three different categories – Referees, Assistant Referees and Support.
