Flying Eagles travel update: Team to depart for Ghana today by 2045 hours

The Flying Eagles players will jet out to the goal coast City Accra, Ghana at 2045 hours on Thursday, February 9 ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, barring any last-minute change in plan.

All things being equal, the players and officials will depart Accra at 0400 hours on Friday morning for Morocco.

Nigeria have set up a training camp in the North African country in order to familiarize themselves with the weather conditions, which is similar to that of Egypt, where the tournament is holding.

The Nigeria Football Federation are in talks to play two friendly matches against African opposition during their stay in Morocco but nothing is cast in stone yet.

Benin Republic, Central African Republic, Gambia and Republic of the Congo are the potential opponents of the Nigeria U20s in Morocco.

Meanwhile, Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent have given their word that striker Ahmed Abdullahi will be released to the Nigeria Football Federation for the training camp in Morocco though the U20 AFCON is not on the FIFA international match calendar.

The Nigerian Federation are awaiting feedback from Gent regarding the date Abdullahi will report for international duty and they expect an answer later today
