Nigeria Football Federation president, Ibrahim Musa Gusau has pledged financial support for the Nigeria U-17 girls playing in the ongoing FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in India.
Gusau who had arrived India on Tuesday to physically support the girls after they reached the semi finals, spoke with them after dinner.
The NFF president had told the girls that the best gift they can give to him as the new Chief at the helm of affairs of Nigeria football is to win the trophy.
“I want to thank God for today and also appreciate you for your efforts. Nigerians are happy with you. As you are aware we were elected while you were in Turkey and we came on board 26 days ago and I think the best gift you can give us or me is to win this trophy,” he said.
He went ahead to pledge to do everything possible to ensure the welfare of players, coaches in the national team and clubs.
“One of the cardinal promises I made to Nigerians is to take care of the welfare of players and coaches”
Gusau disclosed that the girls who have been given $3000 after their win against Chile will also get another $3000 for their win against the USA.
“So as they said, the last time you won your match when the General Secetary was here, I sent you $3000 and in your last match you also won, I will give you another $3000.”
The Flamimgos play their Columbia counterpart on Wednesday by 12pm.
