The Nigeria Federal Government has formally transferred the custody and management of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna to the Kaduna State Government in line with the implementation of the National Sports Industry Policy(NSIP), Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The transfer of custody of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium , Kaduna to the State Government was done at a ceremony at the Government House, Kaduna on Friday with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) between the two parties represented by the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare and the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El Rufai.
Prior to the formal transfer of the stadium, the minister alongside directors of the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development and senior officials of the Kaduna State Government went on a tour of facilities at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
The ceremony climaxed with a novelty game between the Sports Minister Sunday Dare led Team Federal Ministry of Youth and Sport and Governor Nasir El-Rufai led Team Kaduna State.
The novlety match ended with El-Rufai scoring twice in Kaduna State Government 2-1 win over the FMGYS. The Sport Minister scored the consolatory goal for his team.
With the completion of official transfer of custody ceremony of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, the Sports minister stated that the next stadium to be released would be the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium(formerly known as the Liberty Stadium), Ibadan.
