Ex Nigeria international George Abbey backs homebased Super Eagles to achieve more at Rwanda 2016

Retired Nigeria international George Abbey believes there is more to come from the home – based Super Eagles after they qualified for the 2016 African Nations Championship.

The national team’s participation at the tournament in Rwanda was assured after they held hosts Burkina Faso to a goalless draw in Ouagadougou on Sunday evening.

“Well done to @NGSuperEagles on qualification to Rwanda 2016. I trust the boys to put on a good show next year #UpEagles, ” the ex Super Eagles full – back tweeted on Monday morning.

Now 37, George Abbey wore the jerseys of Port Vale, Crewe Alexandra , Macclesfield Town and Akritas Chlorakas before hanging up his boots.

He represented Nigeria at the 2004 African Nations Cup after he was recommended to the national team handlers by childhood pal Joseph Yobo.
