Esperance Sportive de Tunis credits Fidelis Ilechukwu and Plateau United

Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis has hailed Fidelis Ilechukwu and his Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) side.

The four-time CAF Champions League winners got the scare of their lives at the Stade de Olympique, Rades on Saturday night, as they needed a contentious penalty to go past the NPFL runners up.

Esperance who won the last qualifying round on the away goal rule after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline, thus eliminating the Peace Boys from the CAF Champions League shared a witty post after the game.

The penalty awarded by the Egyptian ref was a controversial one, as the incident occurred outside the box, but he pointed to the spot.

Ben Romdhane beat goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso to send the home supporters into wild jubilation.

Plateau United have now dropped to the second tier, CAF Confederation Cup and will await their next opponents in the playoffs for a chance in the group stage.
