“?Former England striker Emile Heskey has urged Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to sign a forward similar to Luis Suarez.
The club has struggled since the Uruguayan departed for Barcelona, with his immediate replacements Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli failing miserably.
Suarez meanwhile, has won seven trophies in Spain, including the Champions League and two La Liga titles.
Heskey admits that it will be extremely difficult to find a suitable replacement for Suarez, but notes that the club is okay in the midfield department, attack wise.
“I think they need to strengthen throughout the spine, I think they definitely need one or two defenders,”? Heskey told “?Squawka.
“Attacking midfield wise they’re kind of sorted. Striker-wise, unless you can get Suarez back it’s tricky “? it’s been a bit difficult for them since he left.
“Sturridge has had his injury woes, which hasn’t helped, but it isn’t his fault, because we know how good he is when he’s fit and on his game.
“I still feel that up front they could do with more options. [Christian] Benteke “? maybe going into the new season he could show some of the form that made them purchase him.”?
The Reds have been linked with several big names this summer, such as Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne and Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi. Gonzalo Higuain, also of Napoli, is said to be a target as well, but the club may find that the asking price is a bit out of their reach.
Finding a replacement for Suarez, like Heskey said, is near impossible. The striker scored the most goals in Europe this season, with 58 in all competitions.
There’s just no replacing that.
