Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar netted his first goal of the 2022/23 La Liga season as Elche held Almeria to a 1-1 draw on Monday night, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.
The lanky forward who played a vital role in UD Almeria’s promotion have been subject of transfer speculations since window opened, and despite offers from clubs including those from Spain, he has remained in Almeria.
Without any distraction, Umar maintained his professionalism and with injury on his head, scored the first goal of the game in the 23rd minutes, nodding home from the corner kick to give Almeria a 1-0 lead at the Martínez Valero Stadium in the capital of Elche.
The lead only lasted for 7 minutes as Elche scored their own goal of the game which happened to be the final of the Monday night encounter.
Second half was cagey with either of the sides able to hit the back of the net. Although Almeria could’ve picked the 3 points but not been clinical in front of goals meant they had to settle for a draw.
