“?Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has returned to England training with his fellow squad members ahead of the final 23-man-squad selection on Tuesday.
“?BBC Sport reports that after missing out on the chance to provide Roy Hodgson some further squad headaches in the 2-1 victory against Australia at the Stadium of Light, the former Chelsea and Manchester City man is fit and fully in contention to be boarding the plane to France in a few weeks time.
The 26-year-old had initially suffered a calf injury from his side’s 3-1 Europa League final loss to Sevilla at the end of the season, however his absence from the squad was merely precautionary in a bid to maintain his fitness in the long term.
In other squad news, Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand has sat out of the session this morning after receiving treatment from the medical team for a minor knock, while Gary Cahill has recovered from a light hip injury and trained alongside his England teammates.
Having chosen an initial 26-man-squad after the final round of Premier League fixtures, England boss Roy Hodgson, with the help of his staff, including former Valencia coach Gary Neville, will be looking to cut that down to 23 to take over to France.
As it stands, the squad is currently only at 25, as Fabian Delph was moved to the stand-by list after suffering an injury during one of the training camps.
Hodgson then has one final chance to look at his chosen squad, as well as finalise any structural or positional tactics, in a challenging and helpful friendly against their historically tough-to-beat rivals Portugal on June 2, before their Euro campaign officially kicks off against Russia on June 11.
