Eagles boss Sam Allardyce is keen to bring in a defensive midfielder as he attempts to guide his side to survival following a poor start this season.

Palace and Olympiacos have agreed an initial £13m fee for the Serbian midfielder, but have hit a stumbling block on agreeing a suitable sell-on percentage, with the Greek club pushing for 20 per cent.

Allardyce switched his attention to the 25-year-old after failing in his pursuit for Rubin Kazan’s Yann M’Vila, who played under the former England manager at Sunderland last season.

But his inability to strike a deal has left Milivojevic, who has scored five times in 17 league appearances this season, as the top-priority signing.

Despite being hailed as a seasoned relegation survivor, things haven’t gone to plan so far for Allardyce since replacing Alan Pardew in December.

Palace occupy 18th in the Premier League having failed to win any of their last five games under the command of Allardyce, losing the last four. Next up is a crucial trip to Bournemouth, who are 10 points above the relegation zone with 16 games remaining this season.
