Super Eagles duo of David Okereke and Cyriel Dessers are out of the Coppa Italia Cup after their team lost 2-0 on aggregate to Fiorentina, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
After losing the first leg at home 2-0, Cremonese could not secure the needed results to progress to the final as they played a goaless draw at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Okereke stareted the game for Cremonese with his national teammate, Cyriel Dessers starting from the bench. The striker failed to penetrate the soid defence of the thier host before making way for Dessers who also failed to find the back of the net.
With the final score goales on Thursday, Fiorentina progressed to their 11th Coppa Italia Cup final, six times of which they’ve been champions. They face Inter Milan who defeated juventus 2-1 on aggregate on May 24 in the final.
Okereke and Dessers will now shift their attention to the league as they continue their push for survival. Currently 19th, they face Verona who are 7 points and a place above them in the regulation battle.
