For
Super Eagles technical assistant, Gernot Rohr, the job to ensure that Algeria are beaten in Uyo has begun with the return of the national team from the 2-1 victory over Zambia in the battle of Ndola.
The coach, who returned with the players back to Nigeria on Sunday has insisted that he is focused on how to beat Algeria in the team’s next match, adding that his target now is to win all the Eagles home matches.
He disclosed that he would try to lay his hands on the Algeria versus Cameroon game video tape and study it very well with his team of video analysts, adding that there are still much work to be done with the Super Eagles.
“I think we need 11 points to be first of the group, but all the teams have a good chance to qualify for the World Cup,” the experienced Rohr said at a post match briefing.
“We all know that it is very difficult to win a game in the qualifiers especially away in the first game. But we did it. Yes, we have won in Zambia but I still believe that there is need to improve before the November 12 clash against Algeria in Uyo.
“We have a lot of work to do. We have some problems and we have to be better in some positions defensively and even offensively. We will watch their tapes and move on from there. We all know that both Algeria and Cameroon will be tough especially now that they have one point each,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles officer, Toyin Ibitoye, disclosed yesterday that most of the players have returned to their bases immediately after touching down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium.
Ibitoye, who disclosed that William Trost Ekong and Wilfred Ndidi left in the early hours of yesterday stated that most of the players dispersed immediately the Arik airline flight touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.
