Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen is a transfer target for La Liga champions Barcelona, “?according to the Sun.”?

Christensen, who signed for the Stamford Bridge club back in 2012 as a youth player during Andre Villas-Boas’ tenure at the club, but has found first-team opportunities limited, playing only a handful of games.

He has since been loaned out to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach and has impressed during his time in Germany, playing as both a centre-back and a midfielder.

His performances have attracted the attentions of other top clubs in Europe, including Luis Enrique’s Barcelona. Christensen impressed during Monchengladbach‘s Champions League match with the Catalan club, and could join up with the Nou Camp side either in January or, more likely, the end of the season.

While Barcelona already have the likes of Samuel Umtiti and Jeremy Mathieu as reserve centre-backs, the club see Christensen as a potential long term successor to Javier Mascherano as well as a partner to Gerard Pique.

Chelsea don’t want the Denmark international to leave but cannot promise him regular game time, while manager Antonio Conte has also been linked with signing more experienced centre-backs. Talking about his future “?to the Sun last month, Christensen revealed he had yet to make a decision regarding his future.

“I have not decided yet. I’m not going to do it at the moment. When it comes to me, I’ll decide next summer,” Christensen revealed.

“For me, both things are possible (staying or leaving). I don’t want to be distracted, and I can’t decide alone. The question is if the clubs can agree a fee.”?
