Carlos Tevez reportedly has the chance to become the best paid player in the world, should he accept the opportunity to move to China this winter in time for the 2017 season, with an incredibly lucrative contract thought to be on the table.

Tevez, who returned home to Argentina to rejoin boyhood club Boca Juniors in 2015, is believed to have rejected previous interest from Chinese Super League sides before making the switch from Europe to South America, but may now have his resolve to stay at Boca tested.

Marca is among the news outlets carrying reports of an apparent deal that would see the 32-year-old forward pocket €40m per season in China. The identity of the club allegedly offering such a vast sum of money remains unknown as yet.

This potential deal is in a completely different bracket to the rumoured €24m per season salary that was offered by Shanghai SIPG last year.

Tevez first left Boca in 2004 at the age of just 20 when he moved to Corinthians in Brazil. From there he joined West Ham in 2006 in one of the more surprising transfers of modern times, while he later won Premier League titles with both Manchester United and Manchester City.

The player collected two Serie A title in two seasons with Juventus as well as helping the Turin giant reach the 2015 Champions League final. He was unable to add a second winner’s medal to his collection having earlier lifted the trophy with Manchester United in 2008.

Since resuming his career back in Argentina 11 years on, Tevez has won Primera Division and domestic cup honours so far with Boca.
