Bwari Stadium Abuja host first official game

The renovated Bwari Township Stadium, which is the brain child of FCT FA Chairman Adam Mouktar Mohammed, will come alive today when it plays host to its first-ever official game Nigeria soccernet reports

The NNL local derby between Hypebuzz FC and EFCC will take centre stage on this holiday weekend by 4pm at the refurbished arena fitted with state-of-the-art facilities including a hybrid astro-turf as well as a well-designed pavilion with modern-day seatings.

The stadium can take in over 3000 fans and is now the undisputed Mecca of football in the FCT and beyond with the famous Area 3 Sports Ground now in its fading glory.

“The fans cannot wait for match time to come,” said an excited Bwari FA Council Chairman Felix Musa.

“Yes, this is a historic day for football in Abuja, it can only be a massive boost for the development of grassroots football in the territory.

“The excitement is palpable. This is great. This is history.”

The stadium has received the approval of both the NNL and the NLO for official matches to be played here since a perimeter fence was erected this month.

FCT FA boss Mouktar Mohammed had promised top-grade facilities across the various area councils of the Federal Capital Territory when he was elected into office.

“This is another promise kept,” he simply announced.

“But we must ensure it is well maintained so that our teeming youths will benefit directly from this legacy project for a very long time.”
