BLOW: Zesco Key Players Out with Injuries ahead of Enugu clash

Zesco United will head into their 2017 Caf Confederation Cup away clash, against Enugu Rangers minus four key players.

The Zambian side visits Enugu Rangers this weekend to play a pre-group stage, first leg match on April 8.

Coach Zlatko Krmpotic, will be without strikers Idris Mbombo and Jackson Mwanza, including midfielder Misheck Chaila and defender Simon Silwimba.

“We have Jackson, Simon and Chaila who are all injured,” Krmpotic said.

“Mbombo is also suspended but, this is football we must prepare other players to play in Nigeria.”

Silwimba has been side-lined since March 10, after sustaining a groin injury in Zesco’s 2-0 home win, over Le Messager Ngozi of Burundi, during the two sides’ 2017 Caf Confederation Cup first round fixture in Ndola.

Chaila has a right knee injury, that he got at the Zambia training camp in Lusaka, prior to Chipolopolo’s March 26 away friendly against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Both players also missed Zesco’s 2017 Charity Shield semi-final and final wins.

Striker Jackson Mwanza is out with a swollen ankle which he got on March 30, in Zesco’s 4-2 win over Power Dynamos, in the Charity Shield semi-finals that sequentially saw him miss Sunday’s 2-0 final victory over Nkana.

Mbombo on the other hand has two yellow cards, he picked up at home and away against Ngozi in the Confederation Cup.
